A native of Ferbane in Southern Ireland, Caroline moved to the coast in Essex with her family in 2003. In she joined Essex Police on 12th February 2007 and worked in various roles whilst in uniform in Walton on the Naze, Clacton on Sea, and Colchester. She then passed her ICIDP exam and worked in CID as a detective constable dealing with serious crimes. She also worked as an on-call SOTO (sexual offences trained officer) and was trained to a high level in interviewing vulnerable victims and victims of serious crimes. She later became a DASO (domestic abuse safeguarding officer), safeguarding high risk victims of domestic abuse, victims of stalking and honour based abuse.
While in the police, Caroline and her family experienced a series of strange paranormal occurrences which was witnessed her colleagues, family and friends. This inspired her to write and self publish the book Paranormal Intruder. Having been bitten by the writing bug, Caroline then went on to write a fictional series about a detective who experienced the supernatural. She was signed by Bookouture, an imprint of Hachette, and her series went on to be a success. She sold over half a million books with Bookouture and all her books were best sellers in the crime category. In 2016 she left her police career to write full time. She was then snapped up by agent Madeleine Milburn before signing with Thomas & Mercer, an imprint of Amazon Publishing.
Her books have been New York Times, USA Today and Washington Post best sellers and she reached #1 in Amazon UK, USA and Australian kindle charts. She has been shortlisted for numerous awards. Her works have been published into different languages all over the world. Truth And Lies, the first book in her Amy Winter series has been optioned for TV. The Silent Twin was made into an interactive game for an app by Chapters inc.
As well as her crime thriller series, Caroline also writes stand alone psychological thrillers in her distinctive 'creepy crime' style. She has sold over 1.3 million copies of her books to date.
